Modern practice in the application of radar and electronic warfare equipment has shown that the defence-in-depth strategy and comprehensive solutions featuring a combination of different surveillance, detection and countermeasures systems are key to successful protection against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
JSC “KB Radar”, the Belarusian top manufacturer of electronic warfare and radar equipment, produces a wide range of equipment intended for the detection and countering of various UAV types. Each of the company’s devices offers a unique choice of capabilities enabling its efficient integration into the mentioned comprehensive solutions.
The first layer of defence is represented by the Rodnik-3D radars capable of detecting UAVs at distances of up to 20 km. At this very stage, it is most appropriate to use the Tarpan and the Piramida jammers intended for the generation and emission of radio interference that blocks or deceives the GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and Galileo global satellite system navigation receivers.
When used as part of an integrated solution, this equipment enables round-the-clock, all-weather airspace monitoring to detect as early as possible, classify and track all types of intruders, including low-visibility, slow-speed and low-flying UAVs, and to neutralize satellite navigation channels.
The Groza-Z3 counter-UAV systems that automatically detect and combat the UAVs are recommended for use as the second layer of defence in critical infrastructure protection.
The third layer of defence includes remote detection and countermeasures centres that are usually deployed near the protected facility. These are patrols and stationary UAV detection and countermeasures centres that can promptly respond to small-sized UAV threats, operate in limited visibility conditions or on rugged terrain, and neutralize the UAVs that have broken through the front lines of defence.
Such centres can be equipped with the Zvonok multicopter detectors, the Shapel multicopter automatic detectors/direction finders (with a built-in FPV drone detector), the Dronescope multicopter detection, recognition and location systems, the Groza-R5 counter-multicopter radio electronic guns, and the Fumigator sets of multicopter control and navigation signal blockers.
At each line of defence, devices from JSC “KB Radar” can be complemented with other countermeasures equipment produced by companies of the State Authority for Military Industry and integrated into the shared information network.
JSC “KB Radar” is constantly engaged in activities aimed at engineering, upgrading and manufacturing of a wide range of counter-drone equipment intended for use by defence and law enforcement agencies and civil structures, with a focus on easy operator training, maximum automation of detection and countermeasures processes, including AI-based self-training of systems.
