Another Automatic Weather Station Has Been Introduced in Belarus
A new automatic meteorological station has been officially opened in the city of Chechersk – a significant event for the south-eastern region and the entire hydrometeorological service of the country.
The new facility, named “Peleng S-01”, was developed and manufactured by specialists from Peleng JSC as part of the State Investment Programme. It has become part of a unified weather monitoring system for Gomel Oblast and Belarus.
“Peleng S-01” complies with the requirements of the World Meteorological Organisation and automatically collects and processes data on air temperature and humidity, wind direction and speed, atmospheric pressure, precipitation, and meteorological visibility. The station will improve the accuracy of local weather forecasts, speed up and improve the accuracy of warnings about adverse and dangerous weather conditions, and contribute to the sustainable development of the Chechersk district.
We would like to add that last year, three more similar stations were commissioned in Belarus – in Stolin, Voronovo, and Osipovichi. By 2030, it is planned to build twenty more such facilities to ensure the country’s meteorological safety.
