Technical means developed by OJSC “KB Radar” allow implementing an integrated multi-level UAV protection system for any important facility

According to the Frost & Sullivan analytical company, the volume of the global market of technologies to neutralize drones may reach 2 billion US dollars by 2024. Grand View Research analysts warn that the average annual growth rate of the market until 2024 is expected to reach 24%, which is due to increased violations and unauthorized access of drones to closed air spaces and restricted areas.
All these threats, as well as the resonant events of 2019 related to drone attacks on a number of objects in the Persian Gulf, “warmed up” the already increased attention of world arms market players to the means of fighting unmanned systems, which are currently, as estimated by foreign experts, have formed steady supply and demand in this segment of weapons and military equipment.
The enterprise of the State Authority for Military Industry (“KB Radar” OJSC – the managing company of the “Radar Systems” holding company) has now developed a number of technical means and systems for protecting critically important objects from the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), both military and commercial. These systems provide detection, recognition and tracking of drones at ranges of up to 50 kilometers using radio electronic, radar and optical reconnaissance; effective counteraction to drones by suppressing their control channels, data transmission and navigation.
The developed systems make it possible to implement a complex multi-level UAV protection system (military, commercial) for any important facility (military, industrial). Such system provides the creation of a protective electronic dome over the object from both military and makeshift glider-borne drones, and from multicopters of mass production. The system may include:
- complex integrated systems for detecting and counteracting drones - such as the “Groza-S” station at a different transport base and the “Kupol” portable system;
- the “Cuirasse-M” systems of radio-electronic, radar and optical detection and tracking, the “Rodnik” radar for detecting X-band low-altitude and ground objects, the “Zorki-O” optoelectronic and radar observation system.
- the “Optima-B” drone navigation suppression and disinformation system;
- the “Cuirasse-M” systems of radio-electronic, radar and optical detection and tracking, the “Rodnik” radar for detecting X-band low-altitude and ground objects, the “Zorki-O” optoelectronic and radar observation system.
The system may also include:
the “Groza-O” complex, designed for search and video registration of intruder-operators;
radio electronic rifles for combating long-range multicopters – “Groza-R” and medium-range multicopters – “Groza-R2”.
Depending on the tasks of protection of the objects facing the users of the system, it is possible to detect and recognize UAVs at long ranges (15-50 km) using electronic and radar reconnaissance tools that work together and complement each other informationally; aimed impact on the drone representing a danger to the object at distance of 30 - 40 km.
These tasks are successfully performed by the “Groza-S” system, the “Optima-B” transmitter, and the “Rodnik” radar. Moreover, these means as a result of complex work can not only stop the drone from performing the assigned task, but also take it to the desired area by misinforming its navigation system, carry out its landing or crash.
To counter commercial multicopters in the near area, it will be the most reasonable to use the “Cuirasse-M” automatic system 3D-positioning of drones, the “Kupol” automatic detection and suppression system for drones, the “Groza-R” and “Groza-P2” radio electronic guns for combating multicopters. Using the flying platform of the “Groza-O” system, within 7-10 minutes it is possible to determine the location of the intruder-operator with high accuracy and to conduct its video recording.
