ALS Scanner by SAMI: innovative system for early detection of UAV attacks.
InnoTech Solutions has developed an innovative hardware and software system - the ALS Scanner - designed for early detection, flight path anticipation, as well as determining position and flight parameters of low-flying UAVs. The System provides for passive air situation monitoring and enables detection of potential threats to infrastructure elements coming from low-flying UAVs, including UAVs used in “radio silence” mode.
The ALS Scanner operates based on passive acoustic detection, which is enabled by using sensors that detect sound waves coming from UAV propellers and/or internal combustion engines (ICE). The received data is processed by software, which analyzes flight parameters and anticipates further UAV flight path.
The system comprises of:
Sound detection devices (SDD) – the number depends on the configuration of the protected facility.
Control post (CP) – includes a server (mini-PC) and a client (tablet) for visualization and system management.
Software for SDD is intended for primary processing of acoustic signals.
Software for CP performs the following:
- access control;
- time synchronization for all devices;
- operation with digital terrain maps (DTM);
- selection of the detected objects;
- UAV speed and heading calculation;
- flight path anticipation with reference to operational time and DTM;
- database maintenance for system and personnel performance analysis.
Communication channels – ensure connection between SDD and CP.
Batteries – ensure autonomous operation in case of power supply is absent.
Navigation equipment – precise positioning of the system elements.
Features of the system operation:
- 24/7 operation, including in adverse weather conditions (IP56 protection class and above);
- passive mode – no active emission;
- support for various DTM formats;
- range for detection of UAVs with internal combustion engines up to 1000 m;
- speed determination error – max 10%;
- heading anticipation error – max 5°;
- SDD remote control via secure data transfer protocol;
- Autonomous operation using batteries;
- Jamming-resistant data transfer via fiber-optic links; encrypted radio channels can also be used.
ALS Scanner is highly effective system for passive surveillance and analysis of UAV activity. The system can be used both independently and as part of security systems, ensuring reliable protection of facilities with a high risk of enemy air strikes.
